UPDATE: McAfee has their Virus
Scan Online package on sale!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was already impressed
with McAfee and have them as my webmaster's choice (because they have
saved my ass more than once .... I do regular backups ... regularly a
week or two behind, if you know what I mean). I have tested and
reviewed all of the anti-virus software and I find this one to be the
easiest most reliable program to use (Remember, it's about more than
just virus detection. It's about the ability to 'repair' the virus
and save the file too!)
This site is dedicated to giving computer users a place to
find information on any computer virus. If you have any new
info, please send it through your account. A few of the latest
ones that people are scanning for are the elf bowling virus
which can generally be found by norton anti virus if you have
the latest definitions. I think that mcafee virus scan catches
it too. You may want to check on their free virus scan section.
We also post info on virus hoaxes and fakes. This should not
make you let your guard down though. You need protection.
A good example is when the ebola, melissa and y2k viruses came out.
Many people thought the were hoax viruses but they turned out to be
real. That is why you must always be alert. Another example is the
lump of coal virus that was orginally believed to be fake.
Happy99.exe is still around sometimes appearing as happy new year virus or the Happy 2000.
Good luck in solving your virus problems and if you don't have
problems yet ... make sure you get antivirus software anyways.
It is much easier to deal with it ahead of time.
